Home sweet home

I walked past this house and just fell in love.

It might sound like those cliche movies about an american girl who broke up with her boyfriend and decided to go on a trip to Italy to move on and find herself. And all of sudden finds a beautiful old house in the middle of nowhere. She buys it, refurbishes it, and later falls in love with a sexy and tall Italian guy.
Well, movies!
No, I'm not that girl. But I admit I would like to move to Italy one day, not anytime soon. Spend my days in a small and lovely garden. Drinking wine and eating cheese. Learning that harmonious language. Speaking with neighbours while going out to buy bread from the van that stops by my home door. Enjoying the Italian happiness.
I believe I will do it one day. But today is just not the day.

Tiago and I just invaded this lovely property and it was quite fun. We were kind of nervous feeling we could be caught at any point. So we just took some quick photos and we ran away. But not too far.

There's a story behind these black trousers.
I walked into a vintage store with my mum. She is my best shopping partner in crime.
I tried these second hand ones on and it didn't even take me one second before I decided I had to take them home.
Since they were second hand, my mum washed them straight away. Mums, you know?! I turned my iron on for the first time in years, I confess. That iron is only used when my mum comes to visit me. She wanted to iron them but I decided to interrupt her and iron them myself and guess what? I just burned them.
The mark is still there and I'm still living on them. Anyway.
This is love!

I pair them with this COS basic tee. Now on sales. So just go for it. The pastel blue made my holiday.
My velcro Lacoste trainers are also the best option for the summer period, when I'm a bit lazier and can't be bothered with shoe laces. Shout out to the lovely girl who sold them second hand as well on eBay. No regrets.
The simplicity of the outfit makes me feel comfortable. Perfect summer look.

Holiday blues

I shouldn't have left the jeans outfit option for the last days of holiday.
As we all know, Italy means pizza and pasta. And let me tell you I've done quite well in regards to that. So it was kind of difficult to get these lovely blue ones zipped at the end, after all that.
Well, back in London, back on track.

All my life I've loved the instant sexiness of denim. But I always have some problems when it comes to finding the perfect shape jeans. Normally, they're either too tight or too loose. Both too long or too cropped. Too dark. Too light. Every women has a different body shape so different needs, too.

These COS washed jeans were just love at first sight. The cut is simple and that's what I love about them. They fit perfectly giving me a shape that I feel totally comfortable with.
The slightly cropped cut gives a mysterious touch to my ankle, leaving something for the imagination, making them adorable.
Their simplicity also make them suitable for any occasion. For a mojito on the beach pairing them with a relaxed tee, which gives you a comfy and fresh look. Perfect for summer. Alternatively you can match them with a simple shirt and a nice pair of sandals and you are ready to go anywhere.
Denim is denim after all.

Sardinia is all about different shades of blue and I completely jumped into the mood with this & Other Stories soft blue sweater.

And now I'm having that holiday blues. But... this summer is all about blue anyway.

Summer suitcase staples

When it comes to travel, packing is my nightmare as it is for many of us. It literally gets me stressed.
Is it gonna be warm and sunny?! Is it gonna be windy and, even worse, will it rain and ruin my outfit mood?! Yeah, I did say before I love the winter, but it's a rainless kind of one.
And I tell you a secret. A weird thing about myself. What stresses me out the most is the feeling that I might lose some of my favourite pieces on the way. So I never take what I really need and, worse than that, what makes me feel like I'm walking in heaven. But I'm actually working on that and I can see some progress.

As the summer is here, the packing time is just around the corner, too. So I decided to give you some tips. Tips I'm using myself so that packing isn't a nightmare anymore.

To make everything easier I pack classic essentials that can work on a broad range of occasions. So a good pair of jeans as well as a perfect shape shirt are always in my off to go case.
I also try to go for basic clean patterns. Pieces that can go with everything. Monochromatic colours are always a choice. Black and white can take you anywhere but I must agree that during the summer period a bit of colour and light is welcomed, too.

This time, my choice is that famous pastel shade power. Pastel is just inevitable this season. It's like a fresh touch in our wardrobes.
Tiago complains about my black and dark blue dressing addiction. So I guess my blue and pink pastel basic tee just saved my life. At least for now.

Basic t-shirts give us a relaxed look as well as a modern elegant shape when matched with the right garments. A simple pair of culottes or basic black pants are the winners and also indispensable in any suitcase this summer. They make the perfect outfit on any occasion.
A cardigan is also a must take. Despite the summer mood, we always welcome a cardigan when the evening rise starts. I always go for a black or a navy blue one, so that I don't need to worry if it's gonna match the rest of the outfit look.

When it comes to shoes, you all know the answer - TRAINERS.
I even use them when I need to dress up for a dinner occasion. They are kind of my uniform. Everyday piece. No matter what, they make me feel comfortable and elegant at the same time. So if I have the perfect pair of trainers, I don't need anything else.
But my last investment was actually these special Teva Sandals. They are just a thing. Besides going perfectly well with any bottom piece, they even remind me my walks across the river when I was a little child. Shout out to my lovely parents who made me wear them. And it was kind of difficult at first, but I'm happy they didn't give up easily. I can't take them out these days. Thanks to them.

Last but not least, I always bring my iPad and my notebook. To make me feel as if I'd never left home.
I use my iPad to stay up to date on my favourite blogs and to check what's new coming from my favourite brands.
My notebook? Well, that's where I keep all my simple thoughts, next to my endless to do list. Carefully organised which makes me feel safe.
And as you might all agree, a fashion magazine is always a good company, too.

The piece of the season

Many of us face a skirt as an every day piece.
Well, that's not entirely true when it comes to my dressing routine. I would rather save a skirt for 'good'. When I say for 'good' it means for after dark. For a dinner out, a gig, or even for a night out with the girls on a lovely and quiet balcony. The rest of the time I'm guilty of the shirt and pants daytime uniform. Maybe, I would say, because I feel more comfortable with a nice pair of trousers. They make me feel safe.

But, as we all know, the skirt is just the piece of the season. Tucking in a blouse, shirt or even a tee, it's always an easy and modern option. So, I admit this season is taking the best of me and I took this little dark blue one on a sunny afternoon walk.

Since I'm not a skirt girl, I opted for a high-waisted version combined with a very simple tee. So the outfit doesn't seem too eye-catching.
Trainers? Well, the trainers are as my morning milkshake. Every day is the day.

Koko kulottes

Hey!
I've got news. I've just arrived from my summer holiday.
Yeah, I can confirm I wrote this same post at a paradisiac Italian beach, surrounded by crystal-clear sea and incredible white sand, in case anyone out there was wondering.
How was it? Well, Sardinia is heaven on hearth. The perfect landscape if you are after a quiet and disconnected break.

We all know how difficult it is to dress up when we are on holiday. Specially on summer ones. So, when it comes to that, comfort is key. In this case, I always try to go for basics, matching them with memorable but still easy pieces. Every woman wants to feel beautiful. And fashion is how we feel.

I must admit when culottes first came out, I was not completely sure about this trend. I actually tried many of them before I finally bought my first pair. But once I did it, it was difficult to take them out. They are a mysterious kind of passion - you start to hate them to just love them.

I chose these Zara cream ones. And... no regrets! The high-waisted cut emphasises my waist and their simplicity make them easy to go with. Whether matching them with a basic tee for a summer look, or pairing them with a smart shirt and the perfect shoes, you are ready for a night out in the city.

I've matched them with an & Other Stories dusty blue shirt. This was my last investment but it already turned into one of my favourite and effective pieces of my crazy wardrobe. Totally worth it. The dusty perfect blue is just gonna make my summer, I believe. The lightness of the fabric makes me feel confortable and fresh. It's simple and perfect for any occasion. The & Other Stories leather slippers are still getting me out of my mind. Black and minimal. What else can we ask for?

70's mood? Yes, please!

Are flared trousers really back in style? I still remember how happy my bell bottom jeans made me feel throughout my life. This bohemian trend takes me back to my youth. To my iPod and backpack. I used to style them with everything since I don't remember having any other type of trousers apart from these high waisted retro ones. And the most incredible?! I felt totally perfect about it. I used to love them. I used to love them until I started to hate them. And love them again.

We all know fashion is cyclical. The bell bottom just lost it somehow to the skinny bottom. Apparently until now. Flared trousers are everywhere. Black, leather, white, denim, burgundy, grey. No matter what the colour or texture is, the 70's mood is screaming. And what's wrong with that? They are perfect to enhance the silhouette and they tend to lengthen the legs. So, girls, what are you waiting for?

I couldn't help myself so I went for these creamy ones. Definitely cream doesn't make me feel as comfortable as black does, but the cut is just perfect and the price?! Well, the price was unbelievable, since I found them in a second hand vintage store. So, it was a win-win!
How to style them? I would say you need to find the balance. Proportion is everything. So I've paired them with a smart white shirt to give me some shape and to highlight my waist.
The Zara coat is one of the favourite pieces of clothing inside my wardrobe. It's so basic and simple but so elegant and classy at the same time. Living in England, no wardrobe is complete without a warm coat and this one definitely does the job!
In the end, it is the coat that makes the whole outfit work.

The hello world in vintage kind of trousers

Hi there.
Is it me you're looking for?! Here I am. I've done it!
How do I feel about it? Well, the first blog post is never easy. Believe it or not, my hands are shaking and I feel my heart beating faster.

I've always wanted to do it, but I've never been brave enough. Think I was scared of being just one more fashion blogger amongst millions. But you know what? This isn't just a fashion blog. This is who I am. I've heard enough times - why don't you show the world who you are?
Yeah, why not? I think it's time to do it. I will be blogging about my style as well as my interests, my steps exploring new corners and edges.

I'm now a 26-year-old London girl from Portugal. Here for the past two years and a half, I'm living and loving every second of these streets. Rainy and cloudy? London is so much more than that. Crazy and busy? No. This city is alive, it never sleeps. Well, that makes us two. I like the noise of the rain on my window. The crowd out there that never let me feel lonely. The old pub smell that warms me up after a long day working. The cherry blossom trees that make me feel like living in Neverland as a Lost Girl. I love the clean and the direct lines. The simple. The complex. The classic and the contemporary. I adore the feeling of being a permanent contract tourist, since everything seems different to me every single second.

Imagine my surprise when I walked into a vintage store and found these lonely white clean trousers for the ridiculous amount of £15?! This is London!

When it comes to dressing, comfort is my thing. I have to feel like walking in my pyjamas all day long. And the first thing my boyfriend said when he saw me wearing these was exactly - You really going out with your pyjamas on?! And that melted my heart.

The All Saints pink pastel coat is a must have. Honestly I was afraid of buying it since I'm more like a monochrome kind of girl. My wardrobe is simply black and white, with some touch of navy and grey layers. But this season has changed me. The elegant and classic cut goes perfectly well with my everyday trainers. I can style this coat up with everything and I never get tired.

This Zara shirt is my last investment. It makes the outfit look simple but delightful.
